About ad valorem
The Milton Keynes Headquarters and Founding Story
The Milton Keynes office is the birthplace of Ad Valorem Accountancy, established in 2001 by Nigel Adams. It remains the central leadership base of the wider group and the foundation from which its expansion across Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire has grown.
Joint Managing Directors Nikki and Nigel Adams continue to lead from Milton Keynes, shaping both day to day operations and long term strategic direction across the group.
The office has also been recognised for leadership and excellence, including Practice Pioneer Award recognition at the Accounting Excellence Awards.
Awards and Recognition
Across the wider firm, Ad Valorem has built a strong reputation for modernising traditional accountancy and elevating the client experience. Key achievements include:
- Xero Mid Size Firm of the Year, winner in both 2020 and 2024
- Independent Firm of the Year at the British Accountancy Awards
- Accounting Excellence Awards 2025 Silver Award in the Deal of the Year category, recognising transformational growth
Service Excellence and Innovation Hub
The Milton Keynes office acts as the primary engine room for Ad Valorem’s digital transformation and operational innovation.
It leads the development of the firm’s cloud based infrastructure, including key Salesforce and Xero integrations that support a consistent, technology enabled client experience across all locations.
While core accounting, tax, and advisory services are delivered across the wider group, Milton Keynes is the central hub for specialist tax expertise, particularly in research and development R and D advisory services supporting technology, engineering, and innovation led businesses.
Partnership with ETL GLOBAL UK
Ad Valorem joined the ETL GLOBAL UK group in August 2024. The partnership was created to support long term sustainable growth, strengthen operational resilience, and preserve the firm’s independent, family led culture.
It has also enabled greater international connectivity, allowing Ad Valorem to support clients trading across Europe and beyond.
Acquisitions and Growth Strategy
The Milton Keynes leadership team plays a central role in driving the group’s disciplined acquisition strategy, focused on retaining local leadership and firm heritage while integrating enhanced technology and systems.
Key acquisitions include:
- Collett Hulance, acquired in April 2026, bringing over 80 years of Bedfordshire based heritage into the group
- Thompsons Accountancy Services, expanding services in Bedford including payroll, succession planning, and tax
- Additional acquisitions, with at least four strategic purchases completed by 2026, broadening regional capability
Regional Outlook and Ambition
From its Milton Keynes base, Ad Valorem continues to lead expansion across the Oxford Cambridge growth corridor and wider South East and Midlands regions.
Its focus includes strengthening regional market presence, supporting inward investment linked to major infrastructure and development projects, and scaling holistic advisory services such as R and D tax support, digital transformation, and talent retention.
Through this, the Milton Keynes office remains the founding blueprint and strategic core of Ad Valorem Accountancy, operating within the ETL GLOBAL UK group while supporting a growing multi office advisory platform.
